Education is a cornerstone of the Uroguidance program. Our providers routinely provide education to both patients and their families on such important topics as the difference between true urinary tract infections vs. asymptomatic bacteriuria, and why this distinction is so important. Another important component of the program is education of the nursing staff on topics such as the latest urinary catheter care guidelines and these are included in the Nursing Staff Powerpoint (link below).
We also provide information to the primary care providers at each facility on the current guidelines as they pertain to the urologic health of their patients. There is an educational Powerpoint presentation for interested providers. UroFacts are also a series of information on Geriatric Urology topics that are emailed to providers every 1-2 weeks once the program is initiated. An interesting article published in 2016 on the “Top 10 Myths Regarding The Diagnosis and Treatment of UTIs” is also a good source of information for the facility primary care providers.
Below are links to educational resources for patients/families, the nursing staff, and the primary care providers that are used as part of the Uroguidance Program.
